As you walk past the glass walls of the restaurant to be seated at your ambient lit table, you can’t really anticipate what is in store for you at Baluchi. The restaurant may be small, but the service is king-size. As an amuse bouche, a lot of interesting things come to the table. On our visit, the Zatoon Murgh ke Khush kabab it was – a charcoal pit-cooked chicken, yet it was served cold and was an absolute delight. Look for it on the main menu, they have a hot version of it as well. The Dorei Wali Seekh is a wonderfully hand pounded version of a mutton kabab and is sinful. And if fish is something you like, the Tawe ki Nazuk Machli is what you want. The Anar aur Chachundar ka Murgh is a good one which combines a beetroot sauce with the meat. The Dal Baluchi with roti is a nice finale to your meal, especially with the Ulte Tawe ki Roti. Traditional desserts get a facelift with the Gumta Ja, a spiral version of the Gulab Jamun and Gulabo is a rose petal infused kulfi that is sinful.
