If you are looking for a south Indian meal – dosa, idli, thali and the likes – then Shree Rathnam is a good place to start. The restaurant with its mellow lighting, wooden accents and copper matkas as part of the decor has a calming vibe. The staff here always greets you with a smile and is quick to seat you at a table. The restaurant is popular among families and evenings are choc-a-block. We liked the use of "jaali" partitions that give you privacy too and the wafting aroma of Agarbatti. The menu offers quintessential south Indian dishes like 'Dosa', 'Upma', 'Vada', 'Uthapam' apart from vegetarian main course dishes like ‘Paneer Korma’, ‘Paneer Butter Masala’, ‘Shahi Paneer’, ‘Mutter Mushroom’ and some Indian-Chinese fare as well. They also offer thalis and the 'Navratra Thali' is a must try during the Navratras. Every south Indian restaurant has a distinct sambhar flavour and at Shree Rathnam, it is unique too. The ‘Ghee Roast Masala Dosa’ that we tried was indulgent as its name suggests but well done. They even have an idli-vada combination if you are in a mood to try both. The restaurant also offers a range of "fusion dosas" including one with cheese but we suggest you stick to the originals. The service is quick and the pricing is value for money.
