Chung Wah launched to warm expectance in Chennai, after its success across the Cauvery. The kitchen balances comfort of familiar flavours with titbits of excitement. Dim sum isn’t a strong point and my meal only took off after dull basket of Har Gau and flappy Xiao Long Baos. I enjoyed scrunching through the clotted dressing of a Beijing-style Crisp Devil Lamb and while pork isn’t listed on the menu, I’m glad I asked for a plate of Roast Pork. Generously fatty bits of the belly paired with a well-seasoned plate of Egg fried rice is hard to kvetch about.
