To understand the Evoke brand, you need to look at how Chennai is laid out. For core-Chennaites, the OMR is only a freeway to Mahabalipuram. Majority of IT office-goers on OMR live around the highway, and many of them are from other parts of the country. When Evoke opened at Sholinganallur last year, it became the de-facto party place in the area.Evoke 2.0 refines that concept and brings it closer (relatively) to the city at Velachery. The theme is industrial grunge and there is plenty of game-tables to while away that weekly off. Drinks remain light in the pocket, though do not mistake it for a cocktail lounge. My 'Whiskey' sour came spiked with 'Orange Juice' and a glass of 'Mint Julep' tasted much of bottled mint-syrup.
