Conceptualised by Anjan Chatterjee’s son Avik Chatterjee as Speciality Restaurant’s foray into the youthful gastropub space, Hoppipola translates as ‘hopping into puddles’ in Icelandic. It does more or less live up to the quirky adolescent moniker. Bleached walls with pastel chairs have a distinctly tavern vibe, and then the games begin. Tabletop chalkboards, board games and jenga along with speakers blaring whatever Gen-Z is hooked to at the moment. Hoppipola is significantly more fun if you are below 25. There is a 58% tax on imported liquor. Can get especially noisy during the weekend afternoons, when the average age profile hovers around 20. They let you bring your pets on Monday. Check ahead though.
