  • As with most South Indian restaurants, the thalis and set meals are a great way to explore what is on offer. The humongous seafood thali has everything you can think of! Come with an appetite
  • The food is definitely on the spicier side (perhaps another Andhra influence). If you have sensitive palate and bowels, do ask them to turn it a notch down while ordering
  • Interestingly, a chef called Malgudi Kavitha worked at the restaurant from 2006 to 2014 and once held a record for the longest solo cooking stint - 35 hours non-stop!

Drawing from R.K. Narayan’s eponymous literary caricature of a South Indian village, a fortune-teller invites you to the bright and familiar Malgudi. One of the oldest South Indian fine dine destinations in the city, Malgudi’s veteran staff is nimble on their feet and with their service. The Savera Hotel is promoted by the Reddy family which also runs the next-door Andhra-food restaurant Amravathi. Dishes from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are as good as you will get anywhere in Chennai.
