With liquor license getting slowly liberalized in Chennai, the city is getting more stand-alone restaurants with booze, so you are not restricted to five-star for the drink fix. Mechanics is not satisfied with just the privilege but has gone all out with what is probably the quirkiest ambience in the city. With a 1970s topless car parked in the restaurant, which also doubles up as a romantic seat, the bin shaped chairs and the brightly lit bar counter is sure to catch your eye. Once you take this in, the menu will then start to overwhelm you with choices. While it does attempt to serve everything, this place pulls off the bar snacks with ease. Service is courteous and the DJ sitting in a dismantled auto is well poised for taking requests.
