Ever heard the best things in life comes in small sizes. Well, in Nungambakkam area this proverb seems to be true. For local foodies and gourmets Nungambakkam is where you get the best pasta in town. The package may come in small size but it does pack a flavourful punch. Located at Khadar Nawaz road right next to Nilgiris, ‘Pasta Avenue’ is a compact and cute place renowned for its pasta. The café acquires only six tables but what it lacks in size it makes up for it in food. Its immense fan following makes it a hard job to get a table so call ahead if you don’t want to be left standing. It might get a little cramped on weekends but in the end it’s all worth it. Planks of polished wood extends from the walls forming small but long tables. Mustard and teal coloured settees are placed around the table to sit in. The look is humble and casual.

As the name suggests the menu of Pasta Avenue is Italian but it also showcases continental and American cuisine. Menu is fun and creative, just ideal to share between friends. Though their pastas are what draws the crowd in, they have other superb additions on the menu too. If you are with your gang then opt for loaded nachos which comes in various toppings (nachos Bolognese tornedo, veggie fest, gooey cheesy). Try for some peppy appetizers like bocconcini balsamic kick and pesto drizzle which is basically skewered cheese balls with cherry tomatoes. Other than that you can take pleasure in French fries, wedges cracked pepper, French fries cheddar cheese and bruschetta. Each of the dish is beautifully cooked and brimming with flavours. You will notice a touch of creativity in all the dishes be it appetizers or mains.

You may stuff yourself on the delicious range of appetizers but we would recommend you not to skip onto the mains. As the café is famous for its pastas it’s only fair that you give them a chance. Swirl a mouthful of spaghetti which comes in numerous sauces like Bolognese, Pomodoro, aglio e olio and meatballs or prick farfalle alfredo or toma chick. You can even nibble on a baguette pizza which comes loaded with minced chicken or veggies. Stack of lasagne, rigate, baked pasta, lasagne cupcakes and stuffed peppers will do nicely as well. Pasta Avenue is medium pricey so it’s not a bad deal.
