Located on the lobby floor of Turyaa, Svar stands as a buffet only restaurant. The ambience is simple yet sophisticated. The variety of food is wide but what strikes the right chord is their service which is extraordinarily courteous. ‘Dragon Tofu’, ‘Crispy Lotus Stem’, ‘Crispy Spinach’ and ‘Afgani Paneer Tikka’ are must-haves from the starters section. They have a widespread for the main-course, from dal to roti and rice. ‘Mango Rasmalai’, ‘Anjeer Musafir’ and the ‘New York Almond Fudge Brownie’ from the desserts section are appetizing.
Restaurant is small but good service, good food. Priced at 5 Star hotel buffet range but food is not at par with those 5 star restaurants. Apart from the price, food and service are good.
My experience is based on my stay last weekend (Aug 2018) at the hotel the restaurant is in, Turyaa Chennai. My experience with all the restaurants in the hotel was disappointing but specifically with Svar where I went several time for breakfast and dinner. I shall share my experience with Svar during dinner for both a-la-carte and buffet dining. This restaurant, like many others, is not thoughtful about single diners. The choice is to order several dishes and waste most of the food or to choose from one or two dishes on the menu that are complete meals. I hope this is fixed. In any case, I ran out of a-la-carte options in one night. Subsequently, I tried the buffet. The buffet at Svar has quite a wide spread. However, I found almost all of them (starters and main course) too spicy for my palate. Most of these items did not taste good. I opted for some "Sevai Payas" for relief and found that it had inadequate sugar, and tasted like boiled milk. The maitre d' was very nice and appeared sympathetic to my ordeal. Other staff members too were very helpful. But the chef who was visiting the restaurant was not too happy to hear my pleas. Overall the experience was unavoidable. It may suit the taste of local people who prefer rich and spicy food but the hotel has to cater to a wider clientele. I am not going anywhere near Svar even if I am forced to opt for Turyaa which is a nice hotel otherwise.
The restaurant serves very good food with a lot of items in their buffet. You could see different menu every time you visit the place. Their non veg starters are good and one should never miss it. Staffs are very kind. And they are trained well. Especially to mention Aravinth, this guy always has a smile on his face and serves guests with utmost care.
Very clean, tables spaced well apart, good buffet spread, courteous staff and tasty food. All these factors make it a perfect experience. Don’t believe me? Try it and you won’t regret it 😁
We were here on a family outing, quite relaxed on a lazy Sunday. This restaurant is inside the hotel, Turyaa on the lobby level. The buffet on Sunday is supposed to a brunch! Except the Kuzhipaniyaaram , dry Aaloo mushroom, and Thair Idly, there wasn't anything much on snacks. The lunch spread of vegetarian items were good. The bhindi and Aaloo were great, but it appeared that there were not many takers for the traditional veg food. Perhaps the food is here is more popular with non veg eaters. The service was bit slow, it took a while and few reminders to get the rotis on the table, but the crew is nice and courteous. The ice-cream didn't taste all that great, I asked for Pista. The arrangement of the food counters, though stylish; is bit odd. It was bit difficult to handle the Gulab Jamun at the sweets counter, bit of an obstruction and the vessel was located bit too away from the reach. The brunch package includes a complementary beer or a mocktail, and that was good. For the price it is, this is a good place and a good deal to have !
