The set is delightful replete with countryside furniture and flooring, a chalkboard menu that changes every day, the al a carte menu on a timber slate, thatched ceilings and walls, cheerful fabric with phulkari work, the indigenous ‘tharra’ like bar abounding with stained glass bottles etc. and yes the Bollywood jazz the staff does in between meals takes you straight to the highway. The dishes gesture highway dhaba fare as the name suggests offering a delightful harmony between traditional and rustic. The wisely planned menu is an assortment of Punjabi highlights aka kababs, tandoori items, biryanis, curries, lentils and famous breads. The piece de resistance is the balti meat, a succulent lamb specialty as is the palak paneer seek kabab creamy and flavourful. The humble aloo pyaaz ki subzi and the Dhaba version of the aloo gobhi are stellar. A refreshing and light dessert to try is the phirni, a good blend of milk and rice and the sugar does not over-ride. The place is unruly most of the time as it is well patronised. Chef Ravi Saxena, Corporate Chef, the Claridges group personally manages the trademark and discovers uninterruptedly for old-style recipes to add to the now notable highway repertoire.
