One such out of the box bar is based after a prison and is named ‘JAIL – Behind The Bar’. The name more than hints after the theme which attracts the attention of the bar-hoppers immediately. It’s located in Model Town 2, a vicinity dominated by the presence of popular colleges so the crowd that pulls into JAIL is youthful and fun-loving.
The food is comforting as well as unique with some really great dishes being featured on the menu. JAIL covers everything from North Indian to Chinese to Continental to Italian, a pretty extensive variety of cuisines from all around the world. A full-fledged bar menu is their forte including thick shakes, mocktails and soft drinks for those who don’t drink. Signature cocktails make for a fun read with names like jail break, detention cell, barracks, handcuffs and anticipatory bail. Meanwhile nibble alongside on, Punjabi chicken tikka, paneer tikka achari, chicken pita pockets, honey chilly potato, masaledar tandoori jhinga and shish touk. JAIL fills you up on, spaghetti carbonara, pepperoni pizza, Jail butter chicken, falafel burger, stir fried prawns in hoisin sauce, fish grenobloise, burrito in a bowl, malai kofta and char-grilled chicken sizzler.
Tempt your sweet tooth by digging into JAIL’s assorted desserts. Have you pick of, bullet sundae, tempting chocolate brownie top up with scoop of vanilla, an array of ice creams or, if you want something off the menu, ask your server for the dessert of the day. Ambience is JAIL’s strongest point. The bar is designed like a closed prison with coarse grey walls and dim lighting. Simple rustic iron rod furniture divides the room which spans across two levels. Comfy long sofas are added to make the seating cosy. JAIL has a casual dark vibe which goes with its theme perfectly. A good place to take your friends to for a medium pricey boozy evening.
