Not so long ago Mocha was one of India’s hottest café (hookah café) brands with outposts such as the iconic Mocha Churchgate. Mocha Arthouse is from the same stables (Impresario) but has not quite aged well with the times. Its L-shaped space is an art-focused café by day and an inexpensive drinking spot by night. The indoor space feels a bit cramped and the waft of masalas from an open kitchen can make things a bit stuffy. However, the outdoor section is set in DLF Promenade’s courtyard and is an airy place to people watch. Mocha Arthouse’s menu has artisanal coffee by Blue Tokai, great deals on beer and uncomplicated cuisine-agnostic food. My 'Guntur Chilli Chicken' was unabashedly saucy, tender and perfect grub with beer. Then, there was 'Chocolate Avalanche' for dessert, which is exactly as it reads. Service can be erratic on busy nights and we recommend ordering everything at one ago.
