Delhiites are always up for more and better. It’s their constant need to move onto the shinier things that restaurants keep reinventing themselves. Every now and then, eateries gear up for a slight tweak in their décor or their menus in hope to keep their patrons happily hooked. Another one decided it was time for a change and closed itself off for an 18-month hiatus to come back new and improved. It has certainly achieved it’s aim. What used to be plain ‘Rodeo’ is now the hipper version of itself, ‘Rodeo Cantina & Kitchen’. With a fun Mexican tweak, this gastro bar has managed to ensnare our attention with a cantina-style bar and a more airy welcoming interior. If you too are looking for a change then drive down to Inner Circle, Connaught Place, New Delhi, to Rodeo.

Rodeo Cantina & Kitchen brings alive the playful side of Mexican cuisine. A vibrant burst of colors overtakes the food, which in itself is flavourful and hits just the right spot. The bar keeps having a lot of exciting offers throughout the week, keep an eye out. Quench your thirst with a classic Mexican drink, margarita, which they do excellently. Nibble alongside on an array of appetizers. Chug down a sunny michelada backed by, chicken skewer, garlic prawns, chicken al pastor, braised duck tostada, avocado salad, hand cut nachos with house salsa, chipotle chicken quesadilla and grilled tenderloin burrito. Move on to the large plates next. The chef dazzles your palate with, tamales, Rodeo lamb shank, chille relleno, fajitas, pollo almendrado, picadillo chili, enchiladas, pescado a la mostaza, Mexican barbacoa lamb and mushroom crepe.

There is always room for one more drink. Conclude the meal with a plethora of lip-smacking desserts. Choco-chili brownie skewer, Calabaza en tacha, vanilla tres leches cake and churros with chocolate hits that sweet spot. The fun cheerful avatar of this Mexican-inspired eatery impresses you the moment you step across the doorstep. A casually decorated room with spacious premises is done sparingly so the effect is even more airy. Colorful Mexican motifs are adapted and fused with a modern dining room. A little nook at the end of the room beside the windows act as a private enclave away from the main dining area. Décor is kept soft, minimal and welcoming.
