When this hotel first opened, it was managed by Nikko, the hotel chain then owned by Japan Airlines, and a significant proportion of the guests were Japanese. Sakura was meant for them and even today, after the Nikko tie-up has ended, it makes no concessions to Indian tastes. At any given time, the restaurant is full of Japanese and Koreans, eating authentic food at relatively high prices. For a special treat ask them to blow torch the Kobe at the table.
