We know of several pocket-friendly eateries like these where we usually go with families and friends during crunch days. Our hunt for budget-friendly dining took us to ‘Thaichi Street’, a casual oriental eatery tucked in the heart of snazzy Gurgaon city. Popular pick amongst the locals for great oriental food within budget, this eatery is a steal on those days when you don’t want to splurge much. You will find Thaichi Street ensconced in Baani Square, Sector 50, Gurgaon. The restaurant offers home delivery service as well, in case you want to order lunch from office.

The very likable menu at Thaichi Street is a combination of Thai and Chinese. Food is surprisingly authentic and hits all the right spots. A gourmet snob will find no room to complain. Variety is superb as well. You can easily order different things off their menu for months without repeating. Alcohol is not available here. Begin your lavish three-course meal at Thaichi Street with a plethora of starters. Yaki gyoza, honey chilli lotus stem, drums of heaven, prawn har gao, Thai rock fish, kongee crispy lamb, Balinese chicken satay, frilly prawn, Singaporean styled silken tofu and wasabi chicken dumplings, has our vote. For main course Thaichi Street kicks things up a notch with an exciting array of, veg dumplings in chilli coriander sauce, sliced lamb in ginger wine sauce, Shanghai style chicken with bamboo shoots, pla nung manao, nasi goreng, stir fry Chinese greens and panang curry.

Polish off the gravies with sticky rice, jasmine rice or chilly garlic noodles. The restaurant takes care of your sweet tooth with an assortment of exotic Asian desserts. We just adore, sesame toasted honey noodles with vanilla ice cream, apple fritters, coconut blossom with vanilla ice cream, fig & date pancake and fried ice cream spring roll. The humble sharp blue façade is striking on the eyes. The small dining room is used well and creatively to create maximum impact. The lovely Asian murals painted in red and blue colors takes a simple compact room to another level. Modern light fixture only adds to the style. Being a budget-friendly place, Thaichi Street is flooded by families around weekends. It’s recommended to book ahead.
