Your search for a decent Indian restaurant may take you all over Delhi NCR, with you sampling various curries and kebabs to find that one place that is perfect for your taste buds. If you happen to move towards the central Delhi, you will find yourself surrounded by a cluster to good-looking fine dining places tucked between snazzy showrooms. It’s here that your curry hunt will come to an end. Connaught Place has turned into quite a gourmet-magnet with all the spectacular fine dining collection it has nestled into its historic circle. One key restaurant is ‘The G.T. Road’, a lovely fine dining place known for serving delectable Indian food. Its location at the outer circle is easy to access with plenty of parking space. The G.T. Road will do wonderfully for families and large groups.
The menu of G.T. Road is thorough Indian, stretching up to include rich Afghani and Mughlai cuisine as well. The influence of these cuisines brings in loads of kebabs, bound to make your mouth water through their spices and smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture. The restaurant organizes splendid ladies’ luncheons and buffets that draws in quite a crowd. Menu is straight-forward. It opens with a selection of smoothies and iced teas but we recommend you to stick with a glass of lassi or a desi mocktail. Start munching with, dahi bhalle, lasooni murgh tikka, dahi ke shole, gosht ki chapli, palak patta chaat, kasundi machhi and paneer tikka. Next tackle your main course with the help of hari mirch parantha or kachey gosht ki biryani. Polish off curries like, rajma masala, chicken in schezwan sauce, kadhai paneer, aloo gosht and kadhi pakora.
Final sweet course is pretty substantial. The G.T. Road spoils you with a plethora of mouth-watering choices. There is, lauki ki barfi, imarti, paan kulfi, rossomalai, afgani burf, jalebi aur rabri, sheer khurma, dil khush, gulab jamun and phirni. There is a lot more. Starters are served on a live barbeque station on each table. If you are a lover for Indian food, there is no place better that The G.T. Road. Generosity that reflects in the menu extends into the décor. The restaurant is sprawled across two levels and is designed in a modern yet old fashioned way. Lighting is kept dim which lends an atmosphere of intimacy with the earthy décor. Use of vintage memorabilia adds to the elegant charm. A medium-priced restaurant.
