Enjoy An Easter Feast In Delhi

Easter is all about creating food memories. The celebration teleports you back to your childhood of which painting and decorating Easter eggs, going on egg hunts and the Easter bunny were an integral part. Every food item lying at the heart of Easter holidays is deeply symbolic and connects you to celebration stories that you created with family members of different generations. There’s the simnel cake with its 11 balls of marzipan on top, suggestive of all the 11 apostles, except Judas. The lamb, again central to Easter feasting, denotes Abraham’s sacrifice, while the hot cross bun officially signifies the end of Lent and its cross finds a parallel in the crucifixion of Jesus. A big throwback to the past, Easter goodies are much more than food. Rather they come with backstories that need to be savoured with a side of nostalgia. So here’s a list of five-star hospitality addresses and standalone confectionery outlets that are offering extravagant Easter brunches and goodies that will help you get into the spirit.

The Leela Ambience Gurugram

The hotel is gearing up for an elaborate Easter brunch spread on April 16, at its restaurant Spectra, which would be inclusive of soft beverages. Expect Easter favourites such as Hot-Cross Buns, special Chocolate Easter Eggs, Chocolate Easter bunnies, Roast Leg of Lamb, Maple Glazed Ham, Carrot Cake with salted caramel frosting, Easter basket cake and more. And from 1st April to 17th April there will be special confections up for grabs at the Patisserie.

The Imperial

A pilgrimage for heritage lovers, The Imperial is a premier food destination too. Watch Janpath, one of the capital’s buzziest markets come alive as you join the hotel’s flamboyant Easter celebrations which include Easter Brunch at its 1911 Restaurant on 16th April (12:00 pm to 3:30 pm) and Easter goodies at its patisserie La Baguette from 9th April to 16th April. In fact, La Baguette will have Easter specials like Chocolate Bunnies, Egg Baskets and Easter eggs while 1911 will lay down the red carpet for the discerning diner with Lamb, Seafood and assorted cold cuts as part of its Easter brunch buffet.

L’Opéra

If the authentic French pastry and bakery enterprise is your go-to place for desserts, then its inventory of Easter goodies will offer you more reasons to drop by. On offer is a selection of white, dark and milk chocolates in playful shapes as well as a Chocolate Easter Passion Cake. The cake is as sinful as it gets where a milk chocolate banana brownie is covered with a creamy caramel mousse that is mixed with passion fruit curd. The elaborate confection is then placed on a dark chocolate base.

The Park

The Sunday Easter Brunch (16th April) at the restaurant MIST in The Park promises to be both indulgent and innovative. A Roast Turkey and Ham counter will share space with Indian delicacies like Appam, Dosa and Kerala Duck Mappas as well as Oriental fare like Dim sums. In addition, the hotel will have handmade pasta in its diverse spread. Topping it off will be fine wines and signature cocktails. Easter goodies from Flurys will be an added bonus, which will include Easter eggs in dark chocolate and white chocolate, and filled with truffles, nutty chocolates and candies. In addition, there will be Koulourakia Cookies (traditional Easter sesame cookies), Pagnottes Cookies (gingerbread cookies), Easter bunny Macaroon (almond coloured macaroon with a bunny face) and more.

The Claridges, New Delhi

The Claridges has a bouquet of offerings for Easter, including a traditional Easter Brunch (12:30 pm - 3:30 pm) on 16th April at Pickwicks, its all-day dining restaurant. The special menu on offer features an assortment of dishes such as Scotch eggs, Easter Pudding, Easter Pie and more. For a bountiful Easter table, a bevy of treats created by Ye Old Bakery will be available from 1st April to 16th April, featuring Easter cupcakes, hot cross buns, mini chocolate bunnies and of course, Easter eggs.

Easter dining focuses on festive meals in a big way. So it is always a good idea to take along family and friends to indulge in sumptuous spreads that rekindle your love for bunnies and eggs.
