Come the weekend and you just want to laze around, especially if your Friday and Saturday nights have been of the partying variety. A good and late breakfast out, perhaps one that spills straight into lunch is generally what you will have on your mind. While there may be scores of places for breakfast, here are a few places that rock it on their own during the week, but serve up a mean breakfast on the weekend.
Now Toast and Tonic is known to go all out on local produce and get innovative with the mundane. The menu has a lot of interesting things to experiment with. Try the Tapioca Pancake which comes with Nolen gur, sprouted moong, chana and pista. The French Toast here comes with a berry jam and vanilla pastry cream and if sweet is still the way you want to go, then the Sourdough Raagi Waffle with molten nolen gur syrup and jaggery is what you should go for. A must-try is the Nduja Chilli Cheese Toast which comes with a Calabrian style spiced pork nduja spread over toast, with large dots of molten mozzarella and topped off with fresh arugula and some truffle. Weekend breakfasts cannot get better than this.

Now a weekend breakfast at Monkey Bar is legendary and one that never really goes out of style. The French Press Coffee is what you begin with here and then work your way up. And the Eggs Benedict here is something you cannot go wrong with, each and every time. If you like your eggs hardcore, the Double Masala Omelette, known here as the Railway Omelette is what you are looking for. Or indulge your soul with the Brie and Mushroom Omelette. Go the millets way, with the Millet Upma and up the yum quotient by adding on a Kundapur style chicken ghee roast. Sure you have teas and coffees, but the Banana Nutella Shake is what you should be aiming for.

Hard Rock is quite a legendary institution in itself. Which means once you are done taking in a show and indulging in some great drinks and beer on a Friday you can always hop on over for a great brekkie. If you would rather have a complete platter, then the HRC Brekkie with eggs, sausages and smoked bacon, with the usuals of toast, hash browns and the like is what you should order. Justin’s Loaded French Toast is definitely something to try – go sweet or savoury, your choice. The Flapjack Stack is for those who are tired of the usual sweet pancake stack (though the Chunky Monkey Pancakes is available for those who prefer it sweet). And if you would like a little Mexico at your table, then the Fajita styled skillet with scrambled eggs is the way to go.
Address: Hard Rock Cafe No.40, St. Marks Road, Opp LIC Building, Shanthala Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore

Nasi and Mee has earned a great reputation as a place for some superlative food. Now that they have weekend breakfast too, we love the restaurant all the more. Nothing works better than some freshly brewed black coffee to begin your Asian breakfast experience. The Sambal Cheese Toast should follow – and that house made sambal is something to savour, as is the really fresh arugula. The Thai style Eggs Benedict comes with a strong dash of Tom Yum Hollandaise and at the risk of sounding clichéd, it is yum. The Singapore Kaya Toast is going to take you back to those street food stalls across Asia. And the Ice Blended Milo Shake will take you down memory lane!
