Top 6 Restaurants In Bengaluru For A Finger-Licking Onam Sadya

29 Aug, 2017 by Ruth DSouza Prabhu

The beauty of the harvest festival of Onam is that it goes beyond religious boundaries and is celebrated by everyone from the Malayali community. Across homes in Kerala and wherever the community is present, you will find the pookalam decorating entryways, pots of coconut laden food simmering away and a lot of good banter. For those of you who would love to be part of it all, yet don’t have a home where you have been invited to partake, these restaurants serving up the sadya is just what you are looking for.

Vembanad

A restaurant in The Paul hotel, Vembanad has always been top of my list when you want some classic Kerala food in a fine dining set up. This year too, Vembanad will serve up the Onamsadya and will be doing so both as a buffet as well as the Elasadya (plaintain leaf based meal). The restaurant has limited seating space, so you may want to make your reservations well in advance.

3rd and 5th September - Onam Buffet Rs. 1500 all inclusive per person

4th September  - Onam Ela Sadya Rs. 1700 all inclusive per person

Anju’s Café

The celebration of Onam, with an elaborate meal served up buffet style, has crossed over a decade at Anju’s Café. Sit in the midst of Rangashankara, the one and only place for great plays in the city, Anju’s Café has been catering to hungry hordes for years now. One of the most awaited annual events is the Onam Sadya, which is on a limited first-booked-first-confirmed system. So if you are in South Bengaluru and want to be a part of this family-like meal, book your seats right away.

The all-day dining at Cubbon Pavilion, the ITC Gardenia is a go-to place any time the craving for something good to eat hits and you want to do so in style. Traditionally, the café has always included special promotions within the ambit of their lunch and dinner buffets and this time too is no different. All the favourites from a classic Onam Sadya will be available on the cyclical menu. And so, here is your chance to get some of that deliciousness for yourself.

If there is one thing that Malabar Bay is popular for, besides its wide range of Kerala delicacies, it is the wide range of traditional beverages it offers. From Nannari Sharbath to Chukk Kaapi and everything in between, this is a restaurant that has got it right. And this year, they serve up the Onam Sadya as well. They have some interesting discounts for those who may be booking in groups and well in advance, so that is something that you want to check out.
