Bengaluru's Top 5 Kid Friendly Restaurants

03 May, 2017 by Ruth DSouza Prabhu

Eating out is a very popular pastime in Bengaluru. That being said, it is not always easy to find a restaurant that is child-friendly. Of course, you have places that give you the high chair and the occasional kiddie menu or portion of a meal, but there are a few that take things a step further to make their little guests feel comfortable.

Fisherman’s Wharf

The Sarjapur outlet of Fisherman’s Wharf is where you would want to be. One for the fact that they have ample parking which is a blessing in Bengaluru and two for the lovely outdoor play area within the premises and under the watchful eyes of the security. Tables are placed in a verandah around, so you can always have your eyes on your little ones. The children will love the seafood, as well as the likes of Sannas, Puis, Neer Dosas and more. And of course, the adults have the Margherita Bar to look forward to.

Smoke House Deli

When you step into any of the Smoke House Delis in the city, which we have two of, by the way, children are treated as good as the adults. Each child gets a colouring book, which is also a sticker based menu. Kids get to put together a meal based on stickers and tear out the order card for the staff. Three such cards are available in a book, along with colouring options, quizzes and puzzles. Keeping them in their seats just got easier.

 Teppan

Now, who does not like some jugglery? The Teppanyaki counter here is quite the riot, with the chef tossing up eggs, catching them in his toque, writing out names in egg yolk and cracking jokes that will have you in splits. Once the kids are done with their meal, the staff very obligingly keeps them occupied in the reception area, with members of the staff pitching in with tricks and activities.

Hard Rock Café

There is something very classic about heading out to Hard Rock Café – whether it is for their Thursday shows, some beer in the afternoon or their gigantic burgers. Kids tend to love the family area for all the memorabilia up on the walls. Most of the staff also walk around with a collection of badges on their uniforms, very obligingly, providing an explanation for each one of them. Little kids get colouring books and crayons and best of all, parents get to choose from a kiddie menu that is not the run-of-the-mill Mac n Cheese variety. Of course, the HRC shop can set you back a bit as well.

 The Village Restaurant

Now, this is a place that can keep both the kids and the adults thoroughly entertained. A themed restaurant, it brings in a completely Bollywood style village setting complete with a dhol player welcoming you, impromptu bhangra dances, a Peepal tree under which your fortune is read, Central Jail from where you pick up your bread and even a cycle bound man giving you chai. This buffet style restaurant is an absolute delight.
