A new edition of The Bombay Local starts today at the Khar Gymkhana grounds.
The Bombay Local, a fair which celebrates local talent and offers a platform for entrepreneurs, will have a strong food focus this time. This is not surprising given that it is organised by Insia Lacewalla and Paresh Chhabria’s Small Fry Co. which curates culinary experiences in the city.
There will be around 60 restaurants, caterers, home chefs and food and beverage products makers who will be part of the fair. Some will set up stalls, others like Amrita Rana, the Bacon Jam Lady, will host cooking demos. There will be plenty of food to eat and food products to shop for home. If the heat makes you thirsty then you can head to the cocktail bar which will offer summery cocktails made with fruits and DIY drink baskets and beer on tap by the Gateway Brewing Company and wines from Pause Wines.
If you like a good yarn then keep a look out for the Storytellers Session organised by Roshan Abbas of Kommune. He had recently organised one such session at the Tangerine Studio. The theme of the stories there was food and had food bloggers, ad professionals, students, chefs, food lovers jumping in with their favourite food stories. Roshan promises an encore here.
Do keep a look out for the Pinch of This Memory Project Installation powered by Mumbai Mirror. This is a pet project of food writer, blogger and cooking studio owner Rushina Munshaw Ghildiyal. I will be chairing a panel which features Rushina, Masterchef India judge Ranveer Brar, Trekurious Founder Rukmankan and archaeologist and caterer Kurush Dalal. The panel will work with the audience to curate food memories.
