Dig Into These 12 Winter Bowl Specials at Monkey Bar That Will Remind You Of Home Style Pampering

27 Dec, 2017 by Ruth DSouza Prabhu

Winter is coming and we greet it in style here in Bangalore thanks to Monkey Bar. Situated at one of the most happening stretches in Bangalore, the ever popular 12th Main Indiranagar, Monkey Bar has launched a winter special that is currently on and available all through until January 15, 2018! Now how is that for some great motivation to step out in the cold?

The festival is based on the concept of one bowl meals (think warm blankets and snuggling up with a steaming bowl of food) and each of the 12 dishes draws inspiration from different cuisines, Indian and international, all of which have one thing in common, they are known to be comfort food.

So here is a look at some of the bowls that are on offer. You can go the Mediterranean way with the Moroccan Vegetable Tagine. A medley of veggies, chickpeas, prunes, almost and olives placed on a bed of couscous, topped off with some fresh mint.

The Wild Mushroom Khichdi does not look like a one-bowl meal considering it comes on a platter with some ghee, papad, achar and curd, But then the bowl is a large one, which you can warm your hands around and mix up and eat, with all the accoutrements, just the way you like it. Do not you do that with your khichdi at home?

The Korean Bibimbap is a very colourful bowl and packs together quite a lot – from a spicy Gojung Steak to some sticky rice, to sprouts, wilted spinach, mushrooms, sesame carrots and all topped off with a fried egg. That beef is some seriously good stuff.

The Sesame Teriyaki Chicken Bowl has a lovely chicken breast, hand-pounded, seared and dunked in some brilliant teriyaki sauce. Served on sticky rice with some kimchi (not one that has been pickled for too long) and some broad beans, this is another choice.

The Seafood Linguine is spaghetti with calamari, prawns and some fish. If you are expecting an Aglio olio kind of sauce, then do not. This one is a creamier, garlic, chilli, parmesan sauce that can be quite heavy on the tummy.

You also have the tribute to Kolkata with the Panch Phoran and Kasundi Maach. This is seer fish fillets with the panch phoran and Kasundhi laced gravy with steamed rice. Can not get closer to home than this.

Other classics also include Kadhi Chawal, Rajma Bowl, Kashmiri Yakhni, Goan Xacuti and Prawn Pad Thai Noodles.
