4 New Restaurants in Mumbai

With the wave of new restaurants coming in each month, only a few manage to really shine. In the last couple of months, Mumbai has seen some very interesting doors open and restaurants are bringing new and innovative dishes to their menus. From Japanese, French, Bengali to exclusive seafood and caviar, if you plan to dine out then you are spoilt for choice. These new restaurants in Mumbai are some of our favourites and a meal at any of these would not disappoint.


We are always on the hunt for quality Japanese food and this new restaurant in Bandra has been the answer to our prayers. Izumi is tiny diners often have to wait for over an hour till they are seated but the food is worth the wait. Steaming bowls of Ramen and plates of Plump Sushi make for most of the menu and you are spoilt for choice.


Tucked away in the bylanes of Byculla, the location of this restaurant might seem strange but do not be dissuaded from visiting because once you step into Goyaait is unlike any other restaurant in the city. Tall high ceilings, a superbly stocked bar, an open kitchen and a passionate chef who walks you through each dish. The menu is a mix of small and large plates with predominantly Asian flavours but is really a mix of cuisines. Perfect for date night or a dinner with friends but not ideal for children.


This pretty restaurant is a conflation of French and Bengali cuisine which seems unusual at first. When you dine here you realise how wonderfully the 2 have been brought together with Mustard being the common ingredient in both cuisines. The pungent ingredient is prevalent in almost all the dishes including some of their cocktails and is even placed in different flavours on the table to slather on your bread or add it to your food.


The folks behind The Good Wife and KOKO have launched a fantastic new restaurant focusing on Asian Tapas. It is far cheaper than both its older siblings and has the most flavourful plates in all of Phoenix Mills. Plenty of Sushi and Dim Sums but it is their own Asian inspired small plates that have diners clamouring for more. The restaurant encourages large tables especially for families with children and even allows them at night despite having a bar.
