Mumbai is a city that is blessed being so close to the sea. Worli sea face, the Marine Drive promenade, Nariman Point, the stretch near the Gateway of India are all treasured areas in the city as they are right next to the sea and all boast of a beautiful sight. A lot of restaurants have planted themselves in these strategic locations so that they can boast of a spectacular view.
The Taj Mahal restaurant has a great advantage with its location. Some of their restaurants get to enjoy the sea view such as the much loved Sea Lounge. If you manage to park yourself on any one of their tables next to the windows, you are in for a visual treat. You get to see the beautiful Gateway of India as well as many smaller sail boats docked in the marina next to it. For years and even today, the Sea Lounge is considered a fabulous restaurant but many come here more for the view than anything else. While the view from the Sea Lounge is only from the first floor, if you visit Souk, their Middle Eastern restaurant on the 30th floor, you get the beautiful view but from a very different vantage point and of course a much grander image of the sea and boats. It doesn't hurt that Souk serves a range of delicious dishes from the middle-east and is one of the few places in the city that does it well.
The Four Seasons Hotel might seem like it is located in a rather congested area but, step inside and it really feels like an oasis in a traffic and noise prone area. Once you are at their exquisite rooftop bar Aer you are treated to an amazing view of the city from different spots. However, the part of the lounge that is sea facing is particularly stunning, especially at sunset or what they call magic hour. What is unique is that you can actually see the sun setting instead of just the day change while you enjoy your drinks and appetizers.
The Intercontinental Hotel is much smaller than its counterparts in other countries. While they might be smaller in size, the work with what they have and created a trend with rooftop bars in the city once they launched the jewel in their crown – the Dome. Not many places can boast of a glorious view of the Arabian Sea, Marine Drive and the Queen's necklace. This all white rooftop bar is known for their sushi and appetizer menu, amazing drinks and very popular sun downer parties. It is also one of the more romantic venues in the city and has seen its fair share of proposals as well.
