Greco originates from the word ‘Greece’ known for the great interests and diverse cultures influenced by its location, at the junction between the East and the West and by many occupations of the Greeks throughout history. A country where one can find ancient ruins, romantic sunsets and hike through majestic landscapes. Rich in culture, their festivities share a commonality close to home such as that of Easter, Pentecost and Christmas, to name a few. In one way or the other, it is safe to say that Goan culture coincides with the Greeks as that of a relaxed, friendly and laid-back nature. 

Picture the flavourful dishes of Greece making their way to sunny Goa and marrying the fresh ingredients of the Goan Coast. That, in a nutshell, is the ethos behind Greco – the new restaurant at Radisson Blu Resort, Cavelossim that aims to blend Greek regional cuisine to create a menu that tastes both exotic yet familiar. Headed by Chef Stelios from Athens, he has decided to begin his tenure here with a lovely event – the Russian old New Year, for its patrons. The restaurant is quaint and well structured with indoor seating and large doors, as well as an outdoor seating offering a stunning view of the Portuguese Villas and the lush green gardens. From hearty stews to warm soups and simple side dishes, traditional Greek food combines the freshest of ingredients from the land and sea to create a highly appetising and healthy cuisine. The menu on display highlights classic Greek appetisers such as the garides saganaki (shrimps, a melange of peppers and tomatoes flambeed with ouzo), kababs, fillets and the quintessential Greek salad. They serve specially selected wines all the way from Greece to accompany this scrumptious journey. The old favourite loved by many, moussaka (Napoleon of eggplant, roasted potatoes and cheese), gemista (stuffed tomatoes and peppers with flavoured rice) and souvlaki (grilled meat and vegetables) created quite a bit of excitement. However, the desserts steal the show in the highly addictive galaktoboureko (sweet and sour cream on a pastry crust) and pair it with some Greek wine and ouzo to hit the spot. A great evening well-spent with a dedicated serving team tailoring the menu to one’s requirements.
