Hilton Bangalore Embassy Golf Links, always had a Sunday brunch going, that was a lot of fun. And now, what is set to make things a whole lot better, is the themed Sunday brunch. Beginning right now with, the Sunday brunch will have a city or cuisine as its theme, with the classic dishes that you would expect being on offer. The focus will be on the theme, but for those who would prefer the International and Indian spread mix, never fear, that will still be there.
The first of these themed brunches is Delhi, which is currently on for a month at the Hilton. Step into the brunch space, spread over the Ministry of Food and The Salt Grill and you will find the space decked up with billboards announcing your arrival in landmark food stops in Delhi – think 'Chandni Chowk' and its ilk.
I always go through a buffet in quite a systematic manner. So, naturally, I stopped at the 'Chaat Counter' first. I had myself three rounds of Pani Puri (stopped short of asking for that 30ml of vodka like I usually do to add to my Pani, but you could), some Aloo Tikki Chaat and rounded that off with some buttery Pav Bhaji. Next, I moved onto starters of which there were plenty to choose from. The 'Kadai Chicken Station' which also doubles up for the Masala Fish Fry section was my first stop. The good part is that, here, it is not just the meats that are served, but a range of accompaniments too. From rice to rotis to chutneys and more, there is a lot to choose from.
We also asked for a selection of meats to be grilled in the tandoor and brought to the table – some Large Prawns with their tails on in a yoghurt-turmeric marinade and some mutton in a heavier chilli based marinade made its way to the table. Vegetarians will be pleased as punch to see the variety – I loved the Paneer Tikka with some nice charred capsicum as well as the Bhindi Masala that would have made any Dilliwali aunty happy.
You can then move on to mains like Kadai Ghosht, Malai Paneer Masala, Bhuna Chicken, the classic North Indian Style Mutton Curry (quite generous with the delicious oil) and top it off with some Chicken Biryani. Rotis come to the table and all the accompaniments from the raitas to the chutneys to the pickled onions and spiced chillis are at a single counter for you to choose from.
Desserts are all the classics again – the Jalebis are fried in front of you. They offer you a choice of Rabri (which is my pick) and an Ice Cream. There are hot Gulab Jamuns and there is a Kulfi that is served gelato style. For those of you, who may prefer to have some of the International fare, is all there as well, from the grills to the mains to the desserts and salads, you have an equally vast range to choose from.
This Delhi theme will run into March. Beginning from March 11th right up to April 1st, will be the Bollywood theme, with delicacies inspired by famous movies to dishes that are popular in Mumbai.
And, the really fun part of it all - The use of the pool is complimentary!
