Over the years, one may have sampled several dishes at Shiro, the upscale Asian restaurant and lounge at Worli Mumbai, but many of those are no longer part of their regular menu. The ‘Best of Shiro’, a limited edition menu curated to commemorate its 10th anniversary, is an attempt to give diners a chance to relish some of these memorable dishes once again. This special menu is available till December 31st for lunch and for dinner.
This eclectic menu deftly combines popular dishes among diners over the years and those served at many food festivals. The resultant menu is thus, an interesting amalgamation of dishes from across the Asian cuisine. Some of these dishes are remarkably familiar and others, forgotten, but perhaps a good way to refresh one’s palate.
The well-crafted menu offers a fair selection of sushi, dim sums and appetisers as well as main course and desserts, catering to every taste bud. Interestingly, at least one favourite dish of each one of us, finds its place on this menu.
Crispy and spicy avocado maki, spicy salmon negi, siu mai, mushroom and cream cheese in truffle broth, barbecue pork bao and teriyaki potato skewers, are some of the highlights, which take you down memory lane.
The comforting Thai curries in non-vegetarian and vegetarian options, aromatic chicken hot pot with shitake mushrooms and spicy fish in chilli mustard, are the perfect main course choices. A fusion of different flavours tingle your taste buds, as you laud the artistic presentation, so characteristic of Shiro.
One cannot possibly come to Shiro and not indulge in the decadent chocolate cherry bomb, an all-time favourite of many guests. The igloo-shaped rich chocolate mousse stuffed with piquant cherries, is every chocolate lover’s delight. The dessert section is chocolate all the way, as you discover chocolate volcano and the mandarin chocolate velvet cake on the menu too.
So set aside a day this month to reacquaint yourself with some of the dishes that you may have enjoyed at Shiro over the last decade.
