Top 6 Restaurants in Bangalore with a Great Theme Going

17 Sep, 2018 by Ruth DSouza Prabhu

Dining out is an experience in itself these days. It becomes more so when you are sitting in a themed restaurant and all the décor is inspired by something that you love. Take a look at these 6 themed restaurants in Bangalore and make plans to head there right away!

Ciclo Café, Indiranagar

The Ciclo Café is India’s first cycling café chain. Step into this place in Indiranagar and you are greeted with all things cycle, all around. From quality merchandise for sales and services of premium bicycles to gear and more. You will find chandeliers made of cycle rims and chains, cycles become wall hangings and you will find handlebars used in the most innovative ways. The menu here is great too – they do some lovely cocktails or you could always settle down with the beer. The Quiche of the day is great – I had the spinach and corn on one visit. The Pork Belly Mac and Cheese is also a great pick.

Gufha, Jayanagar

Among the first themed restaurants in the city Gufha. True to the name the restaurant interiors are done up to resemble that of a cave. Once you step out of the lift, the lighting completely dims and all that you have illuminating your way are lanterns. You are ushered in by a man dressed in a tribal outfit. The waiters here are dressed not in suits but in Shikari Shambu kind of outfits. To add to the effect of the space you have the ambient sounds of wild animals and even bats being played mildly in the background. The food is Indian and runs through the entire gamut of popular dishes.

Ruh, Bellandur

Set in Bellandur, here is a restaurant that brings the beauty of Mediterranean lands to a dining space. It begins with Spanish influences at the entry and goes on to have a very Arabian Nights kind of feel to the interiors – from large doors to massive arches, ornate mirrors, candelabras and more. You have tented seating, sand under your toes and an experience you will not forget. Serving primarily North Indian food some of the popular dishes here are the Mutton Roganjosh, the Tawa Chicken, the Murgh Makhani and definitely the cocktails.

Cafe Olive Planet, Yelahanka

Olive Planet is a unique destination for all things military and outdoor. Founded by 2 Army Veterans, Olive Planet celebrates the spirit of wearing ‘olive’ – the colour of valour. It offers premium military wear, designed for life inside and outside the barracks. From army styled tents to air rifle shooting and a warehouse with a range of army products, this cafe is definitely meant for those who wear adventure on their sleeves. They have a small yet satisfying menu that comprises sizzlers, salads, shakes and whole meals plated up.

The Black Pearl, Koramangala

A pirate ship themed restaurant – complete with the skull and bones, cannon and cannon ball props and pirate motifs across the 2 floors of the restaurant. Wooden doors, wooden torch styled lighting, walls with the interiors of ship’s cabin are just some of the elements. Everything from ashtrays to the cutlery and crockery has the theme going and it can quite a fun place to hang out. The only sad part is that there is no Jack Sparrow at this Black Pearl’s wheel. Indian food is the offering here and it is primarily a buffet set up. Some good options are the Paneer Makhani, the Peshawari Murgh Tikka, the Chilli Garlic Prawns, the Chutneywala Fish and the Makhana Kheer to wrap up.

Two Friends Cauldron

Bangalore’s very own Harry Potter themed café. Potterheads will recognize the décor as being a mix of the Shrieking Shack and Ron Weasley’s home. So, it is not really like Hogwarts just yet. The Marauder’s map styled menu offers Marvolo Wings, Acid Pops, Dementor’s Pizza and a very nice Hogwart’s steal. The Chocolate Frogs are a great dessert and you would not exactly end up giggling with the Giggle water which is a great option. The Butterbeer with a distinct butterscotch flavour is a good choice.
