Amigos, is located in the most scenic part of Nerul. Just below the Nerul Bridge, nestled along the riverbank is this little establishment with no pretensions of opulence. The minute you enters the restaurant, it transports you back to the days of yore. The menu gives an understanding into the culinary facets of rural Goa. The cement floor with a few tables and chairs, overlooks the tranquil river winding itself under the bridge with lush green mangroves in the distance. A lonely canoe with a fisherman paddling down the watery expanse adds to the scenic canvas. Sabita Fernandes, the lady behind the enterprise and the one who works her magic, mentions the restaurant stemmed out of her husband Josefat's idea. Try the baby tiger prawns and red snapper raechad —the catch is fresh with live crabs displayed wriggling on the table. It is served with an excellent butter sauce. The prawn curry, unpolished rice and the local reparation of bhindi bhaji is a crowd favourite. Ask for the specials as the ‘meal plate’ changes daily.
