Donovan Vaz has conceptualised this small, informal place to relax right next to the sandy beaches of Benaulim. Termed as a ‘Goan bistro’, this simple tiled roof and the open airy feeling; it lives up to the definition of ‘informal food’. Orange and red are the colours of dominance and the dinner tables clad in checkered tablecloths lend to the bistro feel. Highly recommended chicken liver pate and the firefly prawns – a ‘continental’ innovation. Do order a plate of his famous BBQ pork ribs. For the seasonal dessert, try the chickoo mousse and Jamaican caramel. Flit the night away with great cocktails over a perfect ambience.
Good food Good ambience But too crowded, music too loud, Not enough staff, hence Service not satisfactory
Been der last nite for the 7Musicians event with my friend who is one of the ACE JAZZ Drummer of India....no doubt the event was good, However, Donovan needs to groom d waiters to be hospitable also when sm1 is hosting an event, der should be enough space to accommodate the crowd rather den the host (Lady at the counter) saying that all the tables are reserved when 1 have already paid the cover charges...It's not about money Donovan...It's all about hospitality and we Goans are best known for the same...Cheers...
Had a good meal at firefly. Food was good and service was prompt. Would recommend making dinner reservations since it was packed by 9 pm. Live music when we were there.
It was during one of our impromptu visits to Goa that we visited this place. Seated at Lounginhos, we decided that we wanted to try some new places and Zomato rated this place a good 4+. This very cool bistro is located on the road to the beach and one cannot miss it. The ambience is wonderful and the food is great. I loved the Chicken Xacuti with Rice. The menu is moderately priced with a wide spread. Drinks are pretty moderately priced too. You'd be delighted if there was a live performance or a Karoake night there.
We came here during the monsoon season so it wasn’t that crowded. They had put up large screens for the guests to enjoy the World Cup and added to the good meal, we had a fun time. The Bloody Mary was made perfectly and the Beef Steak was as we had wanted it, medium. Must try the Jamaican caramel as it’s an interesting twist on the traditional caramel custard! All in all a fun evening!
People go to Goa to relax and unwind. Their idea of a Goan holiday consists of lazing on a beach with a beer in hand or dancing the night away in a hip nightclub. But for some people holiday is all about good food. And in Goa good food is in abundance. To look for a place in Goa that not only serves lip-smacking local food but also dishes out fabulous lively Goan atmosphere in spades is not a hard job. Just drive along the Beanulim Beach Road and park in front of ‘Firefly Goan Bistro Bar’. This is one of the best places in the town for a buzzing nightlife with some local flavour. There is always something happening at Firefly Goan Bistro Bar, be it a fun karaoke night or an evening of live music.
This small beach side place is the brainchild of Donovan Vaz. Tagged locally as Goan bistro, Firefly thrives on the happy vibe of its diners, who fall in love with the open airy feel of the bistro and comforting regional food. Food at Firefly Goan Bistro Bar is authentic Goan with a healthy smattering of Continental dishes. Get some of their delicious potent cocktails or knock back a few shots of cazulo feni. Just as you get the buzz going dip into Firefly’s munchies. Tuck into, roast beef salad, honey glazed prawns, stuffed mushrooms with cheese, crunchy squid, hot & sweet sticky chicken wings and dried masala Bombay duck. While you are still high on feni try the mains like, crab xec xec, BBQ breadfruit, roast tongue, galinha cafreal, squid ink & salmon pasta, pork sorpotel and crusted snapper.
Unlike other Goan restaurants, Firefly Goan Bistro Bar pays deep attention to its bread, rice section. You get plenty of options to mop up your curries. Try, pulled pork poi, prawn pulao, cheese garlic poi and Goan sausage pulao. Sugar buffs will take a delicious swoon after glancing through the dessert section. The chef tempts you with, Jamaican caramel, mango & honey crepe, serradura and salty chocolate & olive mousse. The bistro is made in such a way to instantly relax you. Typical in Goan fashion Firefly is more of a glorified shed with bright red walls and open outdoorsy ambience. Crisp sea breeze wafts in and out playing with your senses. Firefly is pocket-friendly, casual and fun.
