A walk down the annals of history inside the Mandovi Hotel has Rio Rico - steeped deep in nostalgia. Walk across the wooden floor and gaze in wonder at this art déco concept with Italian marble clad around. The baby grand panio still stands atop a stage, a legacy untouched since the hotels inception that has seen its fair share of moments from the revolution to many celebrity patrons taking residence and dining there. Look no further than the old starter favourties – prawn-stuffed papad and fish fingers. The chicken cafreal and prawn curry rice with kishmur transcends one’s thoughts to yesteryears past to a time of ‘fine dining’, a coat and tie affair. Take time out for dessert, try the tender coconut soufflé – a must-order.
