Taverna is a meeting place where people gather around for a drink and exchange 'khobor' (news) of the day. And, while earlier there was a bottle of feni or dark rum as the brew being served, over here, there is a wide variety on offer. At the Cidade de Goa, one can enjoy at the 'Taverna' − warm and cosy with live music every evening to rock your senses and keep your spirits up. Try their tidbits from the menu such as the cafreal chicken supreme − succulent tender chicken marinated with traditional Goan spices and grilled or the batter-fried mushroom peri peri − button mushroom stuffed with cheese served with peri peri mayonnaise, for the vegetarians. Happy days are here again.
Was a last minute decision to go to Taverna and I was pleasantly surprised! The food is actually really really good! And they have some local favorites that are a must to try out. Nice ambiance, attentive waiters(who are able to handle some rude customers too) My only thing is, the mosquitos! May need to look into how to keep them out of the upstairs a/c room. In any case...highly suggest it!! (Apparently the party starts happening later with a DJ n all! Lol)
Taverna comes alive on weekends and is frequented by local Goans. The menu consists of many local Goa specialties such as Choris pao, Beef cutlet pao, Chicken cafreal, Peri peri chicken etc. The Beef chilli fry is awesome and goes well with their warm crusty poie. Do try out the Home styled picante potato wedges which makes for a nice snack.
Taverna means a small cafe or restaurant in Greek. The ambiance is in continuation to the same theme. Situated at Panjim,Taverna is a popular hang out of the locals. There are two levels, ground is bigger, first floor has few tables. Music was good throughout. For drinks also a decent selection. We ordered Chicken Peri Peri,Mushroom Peri Peri,Okhra fry, chillies stuffed with cheese. Food I found to be average ,they should have more options. Especially for main course and vegetarians.
Located in Campal this restaurant is very chilled out with good atmosphere. There is an outdoor smoking area that was packed. For starters we had the chicken peri peri and prawns braganza. Main course was sausage pulav and chicken xacutti. Full marks to the food. Relaxed evening with good wine. A good place to have a good conversation.
A little gem of a place in the heart of Panjim city overlooking beautiful Campal. Limited menu but authentic Goan food; chicken, beef and pork made in standard Goan styles like cafreal, chilly fry, assado, peri-peri. Vegetarians don't be wary there are veg options like Alsane, Mushrooms etc. DJ Ryan brought the house down with a groovy beat and till then there was MTV music videos.
