The original Haji Saheb in Behala is something of an icon in the area, and has been among the top contenders for the city's Best Biryani title for long. A couple of years ago they launched their swanky, two-storey, Circus Avenue outlet (the upper floor is best suited for large groups of people, plus there are tables for twos by the glass windows), right next to the city’s other biryani bigwig Arsalan, a rather bold choice of location considering the popularity of its neighbour. But the Biryani giants in this city are backed by corresponding blocs of staunch loyalists – and Haji Saheb’s Biryani, especially popular for the quality of meat served, has its own following. The rest of the spread (kababs and meaty curries) is not remarkable, but quite acceptable. Do try their phirni.
