Japanese cuisine has long been a source of fascination for us as it is unlike any other cuisine we have ever seen. It takes some serious skills to become a chef in this particular cuisine for it demands finesse and perfection when composing of its fare. Mumbai adores world cuisine and doesn’t shy away from trying out exotic food especially Japanese cuisine, which needs an acquired taste. The city has much to offer on Japanese front and takes pride in its excellent fine dining selection. ‘Dashanzi’ is a name that is not taken lightly when talking about Japanese cuisine. This spectacular restaurant belongs to JW Marriott, Mumbai and is as wonderful as it sounds. It is named after the art district of Beijing and brings to you the full glorious gastronomical impact of Japanese culture to your table.
Dining at Dashanzi is an enlightening experience where one gets to see Japanese and Chinese cuisines in a new perspective. Known for serving progressive modern Chinese and Japanese cuisines, Dashanzi treats their diners to a unique culinary experience. The restaurant comes accompanied with an electrifying bar that takes care of your boozy needs. Sip on their innovative signature Asian cocktails like, Asian G & T, Bloody Miyagi or The Monk of the East to pair your delicious first course. Munch on appetizers like, wok tossed edamame, crystal vegetable dumpling, rock shrimps with spicy miso glaze, classic har gow, braised pork belly and celery & water chestnut dumpling. Feast on Dashanzi’s exceptional sushi and sashimi spread otherwise. Second course entails, stir-fried lamb in malak sauce, wok fried tiger prawns in homemade chili sauce, mapo tofu claypot and chicken rendang with steamed jasmine rice.
Sweet course at Dashanzi is not just some desserts thrown on a plate, it’s a work of art. Their desserts are presented in a playful theatrical way to enhance your dining experience. Freezing chocolate balloon, coconut five ways, dry garden and deconstructed chocolate affogato sphere, are all mention-worthy. Dashanzi exudes the same style and brilliance in its interiors, the way it shows in its menu. The décor is mainly composed of gold and black theme, which appears striking to the eyes. With modern Japanese art and Chinese lanterns they bring some of the oriental touch. The look is posh, classy and affluent. Dashanzi doesn’t come cheap but that’s entirely understandable.
