Frangipani is the Trident Hotel's all-day restaurant that serves Mediterranean, Indian and Italian dishes. Located in the lower lobby, the restaurant has a fresh clean contemporary look. It was a hit when it first opened 14 years ago and still manages to attract the audience. There is plenty to choose from the menu, the thin-crust wood-fired oven pizzas and the 'Chicken Scallopini' are popular picks. While the À la carte menu is full of choice, it is really their buffet spread that people come here to indulge in. Lunch and dinner both have a lavish hot and cold spread which is considered one of the most popular buffets in the city.
Below the lobby level, and sadly below par. Utterly disappointing this visit to what was once the toast of Italian and fusion cuisine in Mumbai. So many misses: The food was substandard, the dal was salty, the mutton quite insipid. The menu is outdated. items listed are not available, what is worse is that the serving stewards are not aware and take the order only to return with regrets. Desserts were served without spoons. The Tiramisu which was once the dish of the day is now only Dish-appointing. Service is slow and ponderous. Billing is another surprise. paying by card i included the tip amount to the bill, but the cashier requested that i authorise ONLY the bill amount. The Tip amount would be dealt with separately. I received two charge slips, one for the bill amount, which I had authorised the other inclusive of the tip which i wanted to pay but had not authorised.... wonder what debit i will get. The saving grace was the masala fish and the grilled version. Both suberb!. Saved by the fish?
We stayed 3 nights at the Trident Nariman point starting Friday August 30th. Breakfast was included which we indulged in at Frangipani daily. To say it was amazing would be an understatement of epic proportions! The attention to detail, especially for our 9 month old son was unrivalled and a huge kudos to Neil, Francis and Allwyn who went above and beyond to ensure our experience was amazing on a daily basis. This includes the 4 pots of masala tea we drank on a daily basis!!! They say businesses are built on the people driving them, and this rings true in the case of Frangipani! Along with the hotel staff, they ensured our loyalty is now torn between the ITC, who we’ve stayed with for nearly a decade, and the Trident.
Frangipani has an excellent layout of Breakfast with personal service to each and every guest. Have more than everything what one needs for a sumptuous breakfast.
The vegetarian food was excellent with a large variety of sweets .My compliments to the chef cooks who were very friendly to explain anything about the food.
Nicely designed and spread this food joint is at the lower ground of Trident hotel.Food was excellent and so was the service.
The trick to having good wholesome meal with wide variety is to opt for an all-day dining restaurant, which never fails to disappoint you in terms of diversity and service. One of the key pleasures of dining at an all-day dining restaurant is the timings, which are flexible enough to allow you to drive down anytime of the day or night to feast on a lavish meal. Many restaurants even do a midnight buffet that draws the patrons in hordes, especially the nocturnal party-hoppers who end up feeling peckish after a long lively party. One of the most popular and scenic all-day restaurants in Mumbai is ‘Frangipani’, located at the famous Nariman Point under glamourous Trident Hotel. In a way Frangipani exudes the same affluence as is seen in its stunning home. It radiates the similar elegance which is so prevalent throughout the hotel.
As expected of fancy 24X7 fine dining restaurants, Frangipani too keeps a wide extensive menu that reaches the far end of the earth. Be prepared to be dazzled by their varied multi-cuisine menu, exploring cuisines from Europe, Italy and India. It’s a good place to entertain a business associate or even a close group of friends, treating them to a luxury of mouth-watering flavours. As your first course try out, gratinated mud crab, salad of roast chicken & crisp iceberg, crisp fried calamari, Frangipani chicken salad, salad of durum wheat cous cous & quinoa, shrimp cocktail, baked brie in crisp phyllo and spiced lamb broth. You will be spoilt for choices like, crisp potato roesti, pan fried prawns, lobster thermidor, Malabar fish curry, sweet pea & tomato filled gnocchi, lamb kibbeh, fresh sage roast chicken, khumb do pyaza, chicken ravioli, jaitooni paneer tikka masala, chicken seesh tauk and tawa raan masala.
Health buffs get their own separate menu filled with delightful low-cal choices. Coming to the décor of Frangipani, the restaurant is like a serene peaceful space in the heart of noisy fast Mumbai. A vast softly decorated room meets your eye as you step across the threshold, flooded by an abundance of sunlight filtering through the large plate glass windows overlooking a green Frangipani-dotted tree patch. The effect is soothing and inviting. There is nothing outstanding about the décor, but it still endears you with its simplistic minimal design. Being part of a five star hotel, Frangipani is bound to be expensive, but for all the right reasons.
