About Lima, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Western Suburbs

In the world of conceptual gastronomy chefs are becoming more and more adventurous where their menus are concerned. They are trying to grasp fresh perspective through their cooking and are wading into the unknown with their vision. Although Mumbai has a very rich and advanced gastronomy scene, it sadly lacks in South American cuisine, something which Chef Atul Kocchar tried to tackle. His decision to explore this untapped branch of world gastronomy is refreshing especially when we were in dire need of a palate change. His vision was personified in the form of ‘Lima’, a swanky hip bar ensconced in the trendy splendour of Bandra Kurla Complex. The bar soon became a sensation overnight due to its plush décor and even better menu that tickles the senses. Foodies flock to Lima constantly to savour their delectable food.

Mumbai more than made up for its lack of South American cuisine with glorious restaurant Lima, which is the first Peruvian bar in the city. Chef Kocchar tapped a fresh resource upon opening the bar and to maintain the authenticity goes to great lengths. He flies in all this ingredients fresh to keep up the high quality of food served at Lima. Marry your appetizers with few cachaça cocktails to give your evening a buzz. Nibble alongside on, yucca chips, chicken causa, palm heart with amaranth, Nikkei prawns, lamb taco, zucchini tiradito, ceviche classico, Argentinian smoked chorizo taco, chicken gochujang, cilantro fish taco and sabroso chicken strips. Follow that with, lamb seco, chorizo molletes, beans stew with garlic bread, chicken burrito, lamb pibil chimichanga, chicharron, quinotto, chile relleno, chiiaquiles and Mexican rice.

Desserts are not made in the house but are outsourced from Theobroma. Reservations are highly recommended as the place gets busy during evenings and on the weekends. The décor looks classy and stylish, worthy a feature in any gastronomy magazine. An old fashioned cobalt blue bar flanked by bar stools in the same colour is the focal point of the restaurant. A well-designed dining space is then spread out all around it consisting of comfy low chairs. A row of tall windows on two sides on the room floods the dining space with an abundance of sunlight. An olive green ceiling with cobalt blue bar gives the room a striking appeal. Lime doesn’t come cheap but that’s understandable.
