There are many places in Mumbai that have gained popularity by its reputation alone. Some exceeded by the filmy glamour and some by its old fashioned integrity but there is one spot in Mumbai that is both. When talking about beaches in Mumbai one can't help but think of Chowpatty which for decades have been a popular fun n frolic spot for the locals. The area is mainly known for its holiday vibe and superb street food that you will find is the soul of this locality. Those who come to spend a relaxing day by the beach often like to indulge in the salty spicy goodness of the local street food. Stalls of pani puri, pav bhaji, vada pav, ice creams, missal pav, bhel puri, sev puri, batata vada, ragada pattice and nimbu pani dot the road next to the beach. If you want to stay off your feet then there are various affordable restaurants serving exactly the same fare.
'Soam' at Sadguru Sadan in Chowpatty is a pure vegetarian place and a huge hit with the families. Interiors are pretty basic and rustic looking but what they lack in style they more than makes up for it in flavour. Soam has about fifty seater capacity which gets full very quickly and especially on weekends it's busy. Classic Gujrati and Marwari cuisine is their strength so definitely indulge in that. Food is rich and delightful. You can explore dishes like, thalipeeth with methi pitla, jowar pita pockets, ragda pattice, vatana pattice, faraali paanki, sabudana pattice, pooranpoli with kadhi, shrikhand puri, shaak with phulkas, bhakhri, papad ki churi, gatte ki sabzi with masala satpadi, masala fada khichdi with kadhi, methi theple with laal batata nu shaak, cheese pav bhaji, moong dal khichu, dahi papdi chaat, khapoli batata wada and nachni dosa.
Facing the Chowpatty beach is another food joint which goes by the name of 'Amar Juice Centre'. This small key restaurant is simply furnished with vibrant red chairs in a soft beige room. It's wonderfully light on pockets which is the key to their popularity besides their awesome food. They serve everything under the roof from North-Indian to Street Food to American to Chinese to South Indian. Menu is extensive and crowd pleasing. Amar Juice Centre is ideal for families and group of friends. Their pav bhaji is their most popular dish which we recommend.=
