Souk is possibly one of the most romantic restaurants in the city. It has got a fabulous panoramic view of the Gateway Of India and is home to some exquisite Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes. The ambience has you feeling special and is the perfect spot for a date because the food lives up to its reputation. Even simple mezze dishes like their 'Hummus', 'Tabouleh' and 'Mouttabel' are spectacular. The highlight of the menu is their section dedicated to Grills. 'Kebab Istanbuli', 'Kebab Joojeh', 'Sheesh Taouk' and 'Grilled Lamb Chops' are some of the best sellers. Save room for dessert, the 'Omali' and 'Baklava' are special.
I went for lunch and had the Mezze bar buffet, which has a good selection of salads, veg and non-veg Middle Eastern fare. The service was courteous and attentive. The view from the restaurant, which is on the rooftop of Taj Mahal hotel, of the harbour and Gateway of India, is amazing and a definite plus. Recommended.
First of all, I thank Steffi and Anant in Souk restaurant for the most delightful hospitality provided to me and my relatives. I was there with my family of 20 to celebrate my girl's first bday and I swear, I have left with an experience which I will never ever forget. You know places can be nice, Taj is no doubt the best but it's the people who put life to that place and one such person was Steffi who was like god sent when we were there and Anant for helping us with the arrangement. Steffie you rock. Keep us the great work.
So, we had a yummy time on fathers day at souk. We have been to middle east and loved their food. Ever since we have been trying to find atleast something close to middle eastern food. Finally!! We found a restaurant that actully serves authentic middle easten food. We had sunday buffet brunch there. Buffet spread was like.. Freshly made soft pitas, all middle eastern staples, salads, some minced meats, whole lot of starters.. Veg non veg both. Good spread of main course ad authentic middle eastern desserts. OMG! What a food. Even my year old picky eater tried almost everything.
Went for the Mezze bar. The Muhammara was absolutely on point, the best! Also the rose petal ice cream was hands down the best in the world. And nothing can beat the view from the restaurant, the gateway of India and the sea! Not to forget the service was excellent.
The view from this restaurant is amazing and the food is pretty good! It is extremely expensive based upon the reputation but it is worth it one or two times! The service was outstanding and I think that everybody should try it at least once.
Mumbai badly needed a touch of exoticness and with this wonderful fine dining establishment it has got that in spades. This place is the answer to epicurean’s prayers for a mind-blowing romantic cocoon where there is the perfect harmony of food and ambience. After this place you will forget every other fine dining restaurant in Mumbai. Which place we are raving about? None other than, ‘Souk’. This fantastic restaurant is most fortunately located under the historic The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel and overlooks a magnificent view of Gateway of India and the sea. This place has the best of everything, from exceptional service to mind-blowing food. It will make an appealing choice for epicureans who are looking for some mood dining along with some true class. Will make a wonderful spot for a business dinner or even a glamourous date.
Souk takes pride in its exotic menu which glorifies authentically prepared Mediterranean cuisine. Be prepared to be set short by hefty sum of money after dining here but that’s the price one pays for spectacular cooking. Do look into their impressive wine collection before wading through the menu. If you want to elevate your Mediterranean dining experience then ask for the Moroccan tea or a Turkish coffee. Mezze, as they call their appetizers, start off with, fattoush, cigara boregi, hummus bil lahm, batata hara with asparagus, felafil sandwich, warakenab, kibbe, crispy rubian and Lebanese pizza with lamb. Take this magical evening to the next level with entrée. Moussaka, lobster omani, orzo pasta tagine, Moroccan chicken B’Stilla, Rubian meshwi, grilled lamb chops, spanakos menemen, shish barak, lamb tagine, cheese talas kebabi and Souk pilaf.
Mediterranean desserts are world famous for their richness and deliciousness. Indulge yourself in, tahina baked laban, chocolate B’stilla, omali, raspberry muhallabia, K’nafi jibneh, baklava, rose petal ice cream and almond & date sambusek. They are worth sharing between loved ones. The dining room is designed in true Mediterranean manner with Turkish lanterns casting latticed shadows about the walls. Its created in such a way that a row of floor to ceiling glass plate windows flanks the room at one side. Try to sit near the windows to gain a breath-taking view of the sprawling sea. The mood is romantic, elegant and intimate here. The exotic setting helps to bring in Mediterranean flavour.
