Finally, there is a one really fancy place to go when you are bored and there are not enough options on this side of town. Tahelka is housed in this one massive space that also has 3 other restaurants of their own and the menu of each one is slightly different than each other. The ambience and feel of this place are inspired by a bar and a nightclub where the lights are dim and people would want to relax and not think much about when they are here. The food can be inspiring for many people because they might not have experienced such good stuff around this side of town. The struggle has really ended now because even though the prices may be on the higher side, you will realise how worthy is it when you taste it. The appetizers include a good mix of North Indian stuff finished in the tandoor and the European ones. We tried the ‘Cheese Stuffed Cigar Rolls’ which came with oodles of mozzarella cheese and they are served with an interesting Honey Chili sauce which gives them an Asian twist. You can even vouch for the other interesting appetizers from the Tandoor menu, most of them have an extra edge that they stuff the main ingredient with something more. For instance, there is the ‘Bharwan Kumbh Tandoori’, that comes with paneer and spinach stuffed inside Tandoori style Mushrooms. There are good curries and then there are really great curries, they have the latter ones and we were surprised. The flavours are spot on, the thick curries and meaty goodness (in case of non-veg) is a genuine and something that is really missing in this area when it comes to restaurants. We tried the ‘Awadhi Chaap’ that is marinated with typical Awadhi spices, served with 'Mughlai Rice' and rolled 'Papad' on the side. So, this is another good thing on their part where they offer some extra condiments on the sides with the curries which make for a really wholesome meal for 2 people to share. The desserts are quite nice, while many of them being classics: we recommend the 'Tiramisu Cheesecake' and the 'Malai Kulfi', both are made in-house. Watch out for the offers for the day as they change them every day except weekends.
