The vibe of this establishment is youthful – right from the coastal Mediterranean village-style little blue door (where the name comes from), to an amusing menu peppered with little vignettes. The Li’l Burgerettes come stuffed with potato-jalapeño patties, beetroot slaw and cheese fries, while Li’l Baconings are bacon-wrapped pork sausages in mini-buns with assorted relishes; the Souvlaki Swords are popular as well, with skewers of chicken served with hummus and an onion salad, or Bombil Fritto starter has fried Bombay Duck in a citrus dust, served with a jalapeño tartar sauce. Mains encompass shoulder of lamb, beef steak, chicken breast, grilled shrimps, fish fillet, and a cottage cheese steak, all with hints of Mediterranean flavour and technique. Most pastas here contain a splash of alcohol, whether wine, champagne or vodka. You could concoct your own pizza, or stuff your face with a curried pulled pork burger loaded with bacon jam, cheddar and more. Do finish with a chocolate-laden, boozy Rum Drum.
