It is loud, it is funky and it is fun. The 90-cover gastropub on the fifth floor of the posh Quest Mall is one of the most coveted hangouts among the city’s youngsters. With beer off the tap, sumptuous pub grub, fantastic cocktails and an in-house DJ, things get really happening around here come evening. The heavy wood décor, quirky posters on the walls, muted lights and a horse-shoe bar completes the rough, sporty setting. The menu has everything from pastas and sandwiches to crisp chicken wings, cajun-spiced sweet potato fries and shrimp popcorn to go with cocktails such as their signature Irish Trash Can and classic Long Island Ice Tea. The Irish House Burger with a pounded beef patty topped with a jalapeño cheese sauce, melted cheddar, caramelised onion and a sunny side up, is a must-try for burger fans. It comes with gherkins and fries, but order some crisp onion rings dusted with cajun spices on the side. Or try their Steak and Kidney Pie, a house specialty. There are not too many desserts on the menu, but the dual chocolate torte is quite good.
