Located at the trendy Vijay Char Rasta area where there are around a dozen eateries, Daawat-E-Khas is the only Mughlai restaurant in the area. It is on the first floor with no lift. When you walk up to the restaurant you will find a longish restaurant with bare walls and simple furniture and décor but do not let that fool you because the food here is worth the climb up the stairs. The staff is decent but they could do with better training. They serve Mughlai and North Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian food which include mutton, chicken, fish and prawns dishes. It is one of the few places which serves 'Prawns and Fish Biryanis'. Start with a soup: 'Chicken Chef’s Special Shorba' or 'Veg Haryali Shorba'. There is an interesting accompaniment served here - 'Chicken Masala Papad' and 'Egg Masala Papad'. For non-vegetarian starters try the 'Murgh E Banjara Kebab' or 'Murgh E Pathan'. You could also try the 'Daawat E Chef’s Special Platter' for a meat feast. You could also go for 'Prawns Angara Dry' or 'Fish Tawa Masala Dry' if you like seafood or go in for the Chef’s Special Seafood Platter. Vegetarians should 'Paneer Pahadi Tikka' or 'Paneer Haryali Tikka'. For the main course, there are a whole lot of vegetarian, chicken and mutton items to choose from. There are tawa special items like 'Chicken Kheema Masala' which adds variety.
