This is a relatively new restaurant which serves South Indian cuisine only. It is located on the ground floor at St Xavier’s Cross Roads. Dakshinayan is run by a husband-wife duo and they operate 2 restaurants in Ahmedabad and 2 in Mumbai. All are South Indian restaurants. Interiors in Dakshinayan are a bit different. There are 4 feet high enclosures where 2 tables are placed in each enclosure so it offers some privacy to each group. There are large wall pieces which have Tamil Nadu style carvings and the waiters are dressed in black tops and dhotis. The décor gives the place a feel of a South Indian restaurant. Here you can get 'Dosas', 'Idli', 'Vada', 'Upma', 'Uttapam', 'Sevai' and much more. My recommendations are 'Mysore Masala Dosai', 'Rawa Poond Masala Dosai' - Suji Garlic Masala Dosa and Spring Dosai. Also, try the 'Chettinad Maligu Masala Dosai' or the 'Pesarattu Masala Dosai' which is Green Gram Dosa with Onion Masala. Try the 'Molgapodi Idli' - mini idlis with seasoned with gun powder if you want to try something different. Also, try the 'Kancheepuram Idli' - idlis seasoned with vegetables, cashew and pepper. If you like Rasam have the 'Rasam Vada'. In fact, you can have 'Tomato Rasam' on its own also.
