This small and simple restaurant in Motera area serves Bengali and Odiya food and it has brought happiness to many persons from East India who miss their kind of food in Ahmedabad. There are very few outlets in the city serving Bengali, Odiya and Assamese cuisine. Shanti Restaurant has started filling that gap in Motera and Chandkheda area. It serves many Bengali dishes and Odiya dishes. The interiors are in a long rectangle shape with tables and chairs places on both sides along the wall. It has pink coloured walls. The wooden furniture is functional and sturdy. The food here is the main attraction. You can get Bengali starters like 'Aloo Bhaja', 'Begun Bhaja', 'Aloo Posta', 'Sukta', 'Dhokar Dalna', the famous vegetarian Bengali dish made out of gram flour cakes in a gravy. The non-vegetarian items are separated by various proteins, so, they have fish dishes like 'Fish Chop', 'Fish Finger', 'Fish Pakoda', 'Fish Kobiraji' and, of course, 'Fish Fry' and you can choose the fish also. The menu also has 'Chicken Kobiraji' and 'Mutton Kobiraji', which is a fried meat in an egg nest. There is 'Prawn Cutlet', 'Prawn Pakoda' and 'Prawn Fry'. The gravy items include 'Fish Curry' and 'Fish Kalia' and there is the very traditional 'Fish in Mustard Curry' and you get to choose from different fishes like 'Raho', 'Tangra', 'Pabda' etc. There is also the popular Odiya dish 'Mutton Kosa' or 'Chicken Kosa'. 'Mutton Rajala' is also there on the menu. The place also serves Chinese dishes.
