This eatery original started in Morbi in Saurashtra region of Gujarat so they serve food of this region here. It is also called Kathiyawadi cuisine as the place is called Kathiyawad in Gujarati. The Grand Thakar is a large restaurant located on the first floor and it can easily accommodate around 90 people. This place is done up in simple style with lots of brown shades used in the interiors. Normally, Gujarati food contains sweet in their savoury dishes also like in vegetables, 'Dal' and 'Kadhi'. But in Kathiyawadi food the vegetables do not contain sugar and there is very little sugar or jaggery in the Dal and the Khadi. So, non-Gujaratis like Kathiyawadi cuisine more than Gujarati cuisine since it is less sweet. Also, Kathiyawadi food has some typical dishes like 'Bajra Rotla', 'Chaas', 'Tomato-Sev Vegetable', 'Garlic Potato vegetable', 'Khichdi', 'Bhakri' and a few other items. In this restaurant, they have incorporated some dishes from other Indian cuisines and even foreign cuisine in their thali menus which makes it almost a fusion thali. You can find mini pizzas and noodles as a savoury item on the menu. Though not a traditional Gujarati dish, most thalis incorporate one Paneer gravy based dish in their thalis also. There are also other Indian snacks like 'Puran Poli' and 'Gujarati Kachori' in the thali.
