  • Downtown’s mango shake is a huge hit – it is choc-a-block with Baganpalli mangoes. In fact, the biggest draw at Downtown Cafe is its huge glasses of fresh fruit juices, shakes and smoothies The sandwiches and burgers are a good value. Try the tuna bagel. The bagel itself is more like a doughnut-shaped bun, but fresh tuna sautéed with baby spinach is good enough to eat on its own The cold coffees and cappuccinos turn out way better than the tempting Turkish coffee. It is missing the body and heady cardamom hit of a proper brew

Downtown's royal blue and teak theme whisks you away from the maddening Bessie beach road and the little book rack makes it worthwhile to hang around. Sit by the large windows on comfortable teak chairs and order a fresh fruit shake or smoothie. Lamentably, the coffee is not too great and there is no WiFi.
