As far as restaurant trends go, the past decade will surely belong to Pan-Asian or more precisely Pan-South-East-Asian cuisine, but what amuses me is the term’s utter replacement of an older descriptor, ‘Oriental’. Perhaps it has something to do with all the colours and rakish cartoon characters from Japanese comic books, or the general American moniker of a sub-continental identity? You are unlikely to find clues at Oriental Blossoms in Hotel Radha Regent which serves mid-market Schezwan food with Korean Bulgogi and Japanese Teppanyaki thrown in for good measure.
