Fat Lulu’s draws inspiration from the New York of 1920s with its brick and wood interiors and vintage décor. Buzzing with students from nearby colleges, Fat Lulu’s is best known for thin-crust pizzas and easygoing bistro fare. 'La Festa' - a classic pepperoni pizza had a cracker-thin and well-seasoned pie with a bit of char at the edges, which was topped generously with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, pepperoni, basil leaves and rosemary. A refreshing 'Pink Ginger Lemonade' derived colour and sweetness from Japanese pickled ginger. My 'BLT Grilled Cheese Sandwich' was a well-proportioned but messy affair with chipotle mayo and grilled tomatoes turning into mush. The fries which came alongside were crisp. 'Sausage Bites' with Lamb Chorizo, pineapple and blue cheese in a sweet chilli barbecue sauce had too many flavours in one plate to savour.
