Mostly vegetarian food with a few egg preparations thrown in, Roots Café is in the midst of a park (it faces the IFFCO Chowk metro station), opposite the Kingdom of Dreams. It is not a concrete structure, the better to give diners a sense of the outdoors. The menu too is slightly homely rather than polished, but that is the whole concept in a city of wannabes. Poha, upma and masala omelette sandwich are all of a piece with the vibe and the decor. Wash your food down with steaming chai while basking in the winter sun. A no-fuss place to bring young children.
