THE STORY arrived on Gurgaon’s patchy nightclub scene with the promise of being different. At least its catchy launch campaign gave us that feeling. Fortunately for us, it has kept its promise in good measure. This snazzily designed, multi-level nightclub, popular among Delhiites who are forever looking around for relief from their city’s boarding school-like Cinderella hour, opens into a kidney-shaped lounge, leading on to an extensive bar that is kept busy throughout the week. The second level opens into a terrace, a novel feature in these real-estate squeezed times, that offers instant nirvana on a crowded, sweaty night when you are desperate to escape from the impregnable cloud of stale deo. The action can get quite frenetic on that one day of the month when the club has its Bollywood Night (or the HollyBolly Night). A couple of months back, DJ Suketu was at the console; on October 24, Ashish Nagpal will take charge. For serious drinkers, I recommend Trip On Tuesdays, where you can plunge into the Rs.2,000 all-inclusive liquid buffet. On Thursdays, the Ladies Nights, women get unlimited jell-o shots and certain brands of alcohol for free. It can’t get better than this, but make sure you have designated driver. The crowd, thankfully, is grown-up and corporate, so you are not likely to find your teenaged daughter’s with your neighbour’s son.
